Stan Winston, the special effects guru who has created special effect monsters in such blockbusters like Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Terminator, Aliens, Edward Scissorhands, just to name a few, has died. He was 62.
Stan first made his living as a stand up comic before going into special effects. He began his special effects career in 1968 with Walt Disney Studios as a make up apprentice. Stan is only 1 of two special effect artists to have a star on Hollywood's Walk Of Stars. Ray Harryhausen is the other.
"I do my art for art's sake on my own time. I spend as much time as I want on it because it's art for art's sake and it's not for a dollar. It's not with business parameters."
RIP Stan.
